The Jeep Wrangler has always been known for its impressive off-roading capabilities and the 2022 model is no exception. In fact, the 2022 Jeep Wrangler is more capable than ever due to a number of features that make it able to go where most other vehicles can’t.
The three available 4×4 systems
Depending on the type of driving each buyer is intending to do, the 2022 Jeep Wrangler can be equipped with three different 4×4 systems. The standard system is the Command-Trac, which allows the driver to shift between 2WD and 4WD at speeds up to 72 km/h. This system is able to distribute the power equally between the front and rear axles in order to provide the most traction possible. Standard on the Rubicon models, the Rock-Trac 4×4 adds locking front and rear differentials to make the Wrangler capable of driving even when only two wheels are on the ground. The Wrangler Unlimited Sahara can also be specified with the Selec-Trac 4×4 which is capable of automatically switching from 2WD to 4WD in order to improve fuel economy and convenience.
The rugged suspension
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is equipped with a rugged suspension system that is designed to take a beating on the trails while being more comfortable than any Wrangler before. Due to its high ground clearance and good approach and departure angles, the Wrangler can drive over almost any obstacle without risking getting high-centred or incurring damage. For an even more capable suspension system, the Rubicon versions are also equipped with a sway bar disconnect feature that allows each wheel more freedom of movement when climbing over rocks or tree trunks.
A wide choice of powertrains
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is available with five powertrains that are engineered to make it the best off-roading machine on the market. The standard engine is a 3,6L V6 that develops 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. For better fuel efficiency, this engine can be fitted with the E-torque system which gives it the same output but lower consumption. For more torque, the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine can be had with its 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The maximum amount of torque is achieved by the 3.0L EcoDiesel engine which can be had in the four-door models. For completely silent and emissions-free off-roading, the Wrangler 4xe is powered by a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that combines the turbo engine with electric motors.
